Driver of
the getaway car the night Teddy Deegan was ambushed by four of his pals
in a Chelsea alley in 1965 during what was supposed to be a bank
burglary. When he heard the gunfire, Stathopoulos drove away - a good
career move on his part, since he was supposed to be shot too, since he
had not been in on the hit. The Mafia went looking for him, but as
future boss Frank Salemme noted, "they couldn't find their way off
Hanover Street". Stathopulos' current whereabouts are unknown.
